About Peter Martin

I'm Peter Martin, a Joomla specialist, PHP developer and Linux administrator from Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

I've been working with websites, web applications and open source software since 2005. What interests me most about technology is not just making things work, but understanding how they work, finding better solutions and sharing that knowledge with others.

Joomla has been an important part of that journey. I've worked with Joomla since its first release in 2005 and have contributed to the project in many different ways, including as Release Manager for Joomla 5.2, Global Moderator of the Joomla Forum and former board member of Open Source Matters.

Linux is the other constant in my technical life. I use it on my daily laptop, for servers, development and experimentation, and I'm active in the local Linux community in Nijmegen.

Professionally, I help companies and organisations build, maintain, secure and optimise websites and web applications. I particularly enjoy technical challenges: tracking down obscure problems, improving performance, automating repetitive work and developing solutions that don't quite exist yet.

Open source is also about people. That's why I contribute code, answer questions, organise user group meetings and give presentations. Sharing knowledge makes both the software and the community around it better.
