Hacking the Pogoplug
20 August 2019
The Pogoplug, brought to market in 2009 by Cloud Engines for $99 USD, was a combined hardware / cloud based solution to access files over the internet. You attached a USB hard disk to the device, and connected it to the internet via an ethernet network. Via https://my.pogoplug.com/ you could then log on to your own device and access the connected hard disk or USB sticks.
Very convenient, until Cloud Engines pulled the plug on their service in 2018, relegating the Pogoplug to a "paperweight". Peter shows how to convert the device from "paperweight" to linux server.
