In general, Linux distros such as Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint, Arch Linux work quite quickly. Even an economically written-off laptop that cannot be upgraded with Windows can often still function well with Linux. But what do you do with hardware on which the common Linux distributions do not work well?
